17/06/2008 - Scott Kimbrow wins Capital Classic 2008.
The Capital Classic at 301 raceway has become one of the premier Fuel On-Road races in America. This year's race did not disappoint in any way. There was a record turnout of 232 entries, and all of the top drivers in the country were on hand to tune up for the ROAR Nationals which will be at 301 raceway later this year.
The weather was very hot and humid, and the track was very hard on fuel mileage. Many drivers either had to pit, or ran out of fuel trying to make it. My NOVAROSSI 359plus2 ran perfect, and made mileage in every qualifier. This put me 2nd on the starting grid for the final, just behind Chris Tosolini and just in front of Mike Swauger........

After packing our mobile home Dirk Wischnewski, Bertram Kessler, my pitman Johann and me started the long trip to the Euro B in Ampuis next to Lyon. We arrived on Thuesday at the nice track in Ampuis.
On this day we had 2 practice runs. Dirk and me started with the setup on the last weekend, were in win the 4th qualification round of the german nationals. My car worked realy well right from the beginning, also Dirk´s NT1.
But we had both some thenical prolems. So we concentrate on learing the track because that was realy technical.
Wednesday started with heavy rain so everybody has to start again with the setup when it becomes dry again. I only choose softer tires for that conditions and we changed the rear anti roll bar from 2,4mm to 2,6mm to minimize the.....

in great form fro fround RD1.
Elliot boots and his Associated RC8 started the day off
in fantastic form setting Tq for the round and maximum
points. In rounds two and three it was the turn of Darren
Bloomfield to take the top spot and secure tq for the
meeting. Some consistant driving from Edd Kerry gave his
Losi third spot on the grid for the final and a welcome
return for Richmond Rogers in 5th spot just being edged
put by Jess Saunders in fourth.
The start of the final was exceptional, Elliot Boots

1:8 IC Report by Salvadori.
Qualifing:
The rain ended with some drivers strategy for the final
rounds and finished with the chance of other drivers to
recover important positions. Pirani:
had a clean qualify on the first day but didn't managed
to improve on 3rd and 4th rounds on the superfast track
and that means he had no chance to fight for a top4 placing.
Balestri: was very fast from the start of
qualifying, although he struggled with engine consistency
when trying the constant pressure device to make 5 minutes
and ended up wasting the two first rounds....... |
