Double victory for Marcos Mayer at AARC – NOVAROSSI Championship

This year the regional championships held in Santo Andre (Sao Paulo) and a very special thanks for the great job of the track organizers and the great support of NOVAROSSI WORLD and Salvadori Racing.

The season will have 7 rounds for Ready-to-run class where the beginners have the chance to get used with the racing atmosphere, Sport class for rookie drivers and the top stars of Brasil are racing in the Expert class.
The 1st round was held last March with the biggest attendance of the year so far. 55 drivers!
All in all the party wasn’t complete due to the rain which didn’t allow the racers to make all finals.
The only class which had a complete run was RTR due to its format where the drivers race 5 minute heats and then results are merged.

The Sport class final was stopped due to the rain, the result was bases on the positions at the time the race director declared the race was over.
Here follows the Sport class result:
1 - Luciano Pazzini - NOVAROSSI
2 - Luan Carvalho – NOVAROSSI
3 - Sergio Nakamura – NOVAROSSI

The Expert Class hasn’t had the final race run.
The qualifying results and semifinal results.
Good for the Top 4 qualifiers that guaranteed the first places on early morning, anyway they had no fun for the rest of the racing day.
Marcos Mayer TQ’d with a flawless qualifying closely followed by Ricardo Perez.
Some fast and experienced drivers didn’t well on qualyfing and had to make the semis to join the Top 4.
Eduardo Dias easily won his semifinal and beat Marcos Mayer's fastest laptime of the day.
The final was promising but the rain made the race ending like this:

01 - Marcos Mayer – NOVAROSSI
02 - Ricardo Perez – Mega MF
03 - Marcelo Giovannetti
04 - José Roberto “Zé Loko” – NOVAROSSI
05 - Eduardo Dias – NOVAROSSI
06 - Guilherme Rodrigues – NOVAROSSI
07 - Cristiano Carpinelli – NOVAROSSI
08 - Clebs Spessoto – NOVAROSSI
09 - Cassius Milani – NOVAROSSI
10 - Alexandre Odagima – NOVAROSSI

The 2nd round was held last weekend, on April 13th and thanks to the sunny day we managed to finish a full run event in the state of Sao Paulo (3 out of 4 races rained out this year). The race attendance was a little low, 38 drivers, but still very good considering Brazilian standard.

On Sport class Luan Carvalho and Eduardo Banzoli were the boys to beat, although Eduardo had serious radio problems and got his car full destroyed after that, missing the qualifying heats.
So Luan had no opponent to take his 1st place on qualifying followed by Hugo Barreto.
Eduardo Banzoli made his way to the final by winning his semi and joining the Top 4 for the main final.
With a great race Banzoli took the lead and counted with 2 flame outs of Luan to comfortably win, the final result was:

01 - Eduardo Banzoli – NOVAROSSI
02+TQ Luan Carvalho – NOVAROSSI
3 - Hugo Barreto – NOVAROSSI

The Expert class was TQ’d by the lucky Cristiano Carpinelli as Marcos Mayer was on a clear 21-lap TQ pace, doing 14.5s laptimes a mistake and a stripped belt forced him to retire on both qualifying rounds.
Qualifyng results:
TQ - Cristiano Carpinelli – NOVAROSSI
2nd Guilherme Rodrigues – NOVAROSSI
3rd Eduardo Dias – NOVAROSSI
4th Clebs Spessoto – NOVAROSSI

The main final started with some accidents, Cristiano had a good start and pulled away from the rest.
Marcos started on 9th spot and had to work his way to recover the lost time.
On the first stop for refueling Marcos was already on 2nd right on the neck of Cristiano who held his position for some laps until a contact with a slower drivers made the thing easier to Marcos take the 1st place, few laps more and now it was Marcos being touched by another driver and needing the help of a track marshall to get back to the track, Cristiano recovered the 1st place and after these small accidents.
Eduardo Dias was on 3rd place and close to the leaders.
With 10 minutes Marcos was back on 1st place and controlling the race with care, keeping the gap between himself and Eduardo Dias who got the 2nd place after Cristiano flamed out after a rolling incident.
The race became exciting on the last 8 minutes when Eduardo pulled very hard and was few tenths behind Marcos who stayed cold under pressure and didn’t allow Eduardo to get the chance to pass him, crossing the finish line 1,7s ahead of Eduardo.

01 - Marcos Mayer 117 laps 30:01.461 - NOVAROSSI
02 - Eduardo Dias 117 laps 30:03.256 - NOVAROSSI
03/TQ - Cristiano Carpinelli 113 laps 30:06.496 - NOVAROSSI
04 - Clebs Spessoto 112 laps 30:13.760 - NOVAROSSI

05 - Wilson Godoi 109 laps 30:12.578
06 - Denis Roschel 106 laps 30:00.606 - NOVAROSSI
07 - Guilherme Rodrigues 99 laps 26:34.777 - NOVAROSSI
08 - Ricardo Hidaka 91 laps 30:02.451 - NOVAROSSI

There are 5 rounds remaining and we expect even more competitive races until the end of the season.

Until next time,

Cesar Salvadori.
